POPSTROKE, THE MINI-GOLF VENUE BACKED BY TIGER WOODS, PLANS NEW LOCATION IN TEXAS

After recently announcing plans for a location in Cedar Park, Texas, PopStroke — a company whose investors include Tiger Woods — has signed a lease for a new venue in Northeast Austin.

Karlin Real Estate said PopStroke Entertainment Group, a miniature golf and entertainment concept, will be the newest addition to the Parmer Austin corporate campus.

Named PopStroke at the Pitch, the venue will have two 18-hole mini-golf courses, offering a family friendly mini-golf experience.

Along with mini golf, the venue will have other entertainment options and culinary amenities, including a made-from-scratch, quick-service dining experience on an outdoor patio, complete with a bar serving craft beers and signature cocktails.

Construction is due to start by the end of this year, with a targeted opening in the spring of 2025.

The Parmer location will open before a planned Cedar Park venue, for which an opening date has not been set.

The Parmer venue will be the first of its type in Central Texas. With buildings made from premium shipping containers, it will feature a different prototype from the Cedar Park facility.

The Parmer location will be PopStroke’s fourth in Texas. Other venues are in suburban Dallas (The Colony), Houston (Katy) and College Station, which is due to open this fall.

In Cedar Park, PopStroke's plans call for a 14,000-square-foot restaurant and bar as well as two 18-hole synthetic turf miniature golf courses on 8 acres at 817 C-Bar Ranch Trail.

The Parmer Austin campus is home to the St. David’s Performance Center, the training facility of Major League Soccer’s Austin FC and where Austin FC II plays. Adjacent to the campus is the Pitch, which has become a popular spot for soccer supporters to watch games, for neighbors to gather for movies, music and trivia nights and for employees at the Parmer campus to gather for food and drinks.

In a statement, Greg Bartoli, PopStroke's founder and CEO, said the company is excited to bring PopStroke "to the vibrant city of Austin and the home of the Longhorns."

"Our mission is to unite people through golf entertainment while creating lasting memories for our guests," Bartoli said. "We are honored to become a part of Austin's dynamic community, which we know is the perfect place to welcome students, families, young professionals and retirees alike."

The menu will include smash burgers and chicken tenders, and there will be big-screen televisions throughout the property. In addition, PopStroke will have its signature full-service ice cream parlor, with 22 flavors and specialty milkshakes.

Outdoors, there will be ping pong, foosball and cornhole. Guests will be able to order food and drinks directly from their mobile app, with the option to have drinks delivered to them on the course.

In 2023, the University of Texas said it would put its first off-campus wet lab site at Parmer Austin. In January, Karlin announced a collaboration with IBM to create a 50,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art development lab.

“Recent announcements from the University of Texas at Austin and IBM further solidify Parmer Austin as an innovation center for industry leaders,” Matt Schwab, co-founder of Karlin Real Estate, said in a statement. “To attract top talent, companies need corporate campuses that offer unmatched amenities. The addition of PopStroke, which provides an innovative twist on a favorite pastime, further enhances our vision for Parmer as a unique work/play environment."

In March, Brad Carabajal, an engineer with Quiddity Engineering, told the Cedar Park City Council that the project planned there would bring 80 to 100 jobs to the Austin suburb and be a magnet for tourists. It is not yet known how many people the Parmer Austin location will employ.

"There's not really another mini-golf course like this in the area," Carbajal told the council. "It would be the first of its kind in Central Texas."

Based in Jupiter, Florida, PopStroke has 13 locations across Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Nevada, South Carolina and Texas, with nine additional venues under development and expected to open by 2025.
